Objektum Supports Olympic Hopeful 26/02/2010

We at Objektum put our support behind those who are dedicated to achieving their ambition in their careers whether it is in our company or in the sporting world. So, when we heard the story of long distance runner, Nelson Odhiambo, we pledged to help him reach his goal of becoming the best long distance runner in the world. Let us tell you, he is already hot on the heels of the likes of Haile Gerbrselassie.

Born in Kenya, Nelson could run before he could walk. He developed a hunger and passion to succeed with his athletic talent and moved to Nairobi to train with fellow athletes in the highlands. His efforts were tireless but the challenge remained of getting the support and sponsorship to compete in international events. Like so many great athletes, he qualified for the Olympics in 2002 but couldn’t afford to go due to the extreme costs. Dejected, Nelson stopped running. After the disappointment of all his fruitless trials of the past, he stopped running. Then whn he joined an international hotel chain the support of his employers and colleagues meant Nelson regained his sense of sportsmanship. Training and his health became his number one priority and in 2009 he achieved a time of 2 hours 42 minutes at the Dubai Marathon placing him amongst the top 25.

Nelson will be competing in the London Marathon this year and taking part in trials for the Olympics 2012.
